GRAND JUNCTION - Paw Paw’s cross country teams competed last Tuesday down the road with strong performances by their top runners. Hannah Richmond completed the course in 20:41.2 good for a third place finish.
Paw Paw junior Hannah Richmond set a new personal record, while senior Jonah Maichele led all the boys to the finish line, as both placed first in a home meet against Sturgis on Tuesday.
THREE RIVERS - Paw Paw High School’s fall cross country season kicked off last Tuesday at the Three Rivers Big Hill Invitational. A pair of top notch returning Redskin harriers had impressive starts to the season.
The Gobles cross country team is looking to improve from last year. The boys placed fifth at the Southwestern Athletic Conference meet last year, while the girls finished in ninth place.
Lewis Tate, a 2017 graduate of Paw Paw High School, currently enrolled at the University of Michigan, has been named a member of the All Big Ten Conference Academic Team for the recent fall season for cross country.
CENTREVILLE - In the Region LP 12-2 cross country Regional meet last Saturday, the Lady Redskins ran well, coming in fourth in a 13-team field. Holland Christian took home the team trophy.
PORTAGE - On Saturday, the Gobles cross country team traveled to Portage West Middle School to compete in the Division 4 Regionals. At this level, the top three teams and the top 15 runners advance to the State meet.
Mattawan freshman Sarah Nondorf qualified for the State cross country meet with an overall 13th place finish at the Division 1 Regional held in Portage last Saturday.
