Paw Paw High School every year selects its top senior student-athletes. These honors, the Redskin Boosters Award for the girl, and the Hindenach-Dawson Award for the boys, are based on excellence in the classroom and on the athletic fields.
The Mattawan girls lacrosse team traveled to Grand Rapids Christian for the first round of Regional play against the home Eagles, and saw their season come to a close with a hard-fought 14-11 loss.
On Monday evening the Mattawan Wildcat lacrosse team traveled to Kalamazoo to take on Kalamazoo United. Mattawan took a significant lead early on and eventually won, 17-5. Sophomore Cameron VanGalder opened up scoring with a solo goal less than one minute into the game, and the die was cast.
Mattawan’s girls lacrosse team got right to winning after Spring Break, handing the visitors from DeWitt a 16-7 loss in relatively easy fashion.
The Wildcats took the lead early in the game and kept building on it until the Panthers were in survival mode.
The Lawrence Varsity Competitive Cheer team recently received Honorable Mention Academic All-State distinction with a 3.62 grade point average (GPA), which was third highest in their division.
The Competitive Cheer Coaches of Michigan Association has bestowed both athletic and academic honors on Paw Paw’s highly successful competitive cheer team. Five girls were named to the various All-State teams.
The Paw Paw competitive cheer team returned to the MHSAA State competition at the Delta Plex in Grand Rapids Saturday to achieve the team’s highest finish there in Paw Paw High School history.
