The Blue Star Mothers of America Southwestern Michigan Chapter are seeking volunteers to assist in constructing holiday packages to be sent to U. S. Military troops deployed overseas in a mission dubbed “Operation Holiday Cheer”.  The Blue Star Mothers have been collecting donations of service members’ essential items that now need to be packed for shipment to help make Christmas special for military personnel serving overseas.
The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Paw Paw Lions Club, 59050 County Road 665, in Paw Paw.
This is the 13th year that the BSM 179 has sent packages to America’s soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and guardsmen serving across the globe to ensure that they are not forgotten and that their service to their country is appreciated. Last year, over 100 boxes were sent to troops overseas with the goal of more than 200 boxes this year.
Anyone aware of a military person serving overseas who should receive a package, may contact Blue Star Mothers at bluestarmothersmi179@gmail.com with the appropriate details.  The public is encouraged to visit their Facebook page at Blue Star Mothers of Southwest Michigan #179 for more information, and a list of needed items to be included in the holiday boxes.
