Great Lake-to-Lake Trail dedicated

The dedication ceremony and beginning of the inaugural ride for the Great Lake to Lake Route 1 was held Friday, Sept. 13, at the Kal-Haven Trailhead in South Haven, shown above, as the bicyclists dipped their bikes into Lake Michigan. The trail, the first of its kind in Michigan, will connect South Haven and Lake Michigan to Port Huron and Lake Huron with approximately 275 miles of non-motorized trails.  Van Buren County Administrator  John Faul , who served as an event volunteer said, “Van Buren County is proud to be a participant in the group consisting of numerous local units of government, non-profits, and the State working together to make this Trail a reality.  We all believe the Great Lake-to-Lake Trail will lead to numerous economic benefits for the residents of the county through increased tourism opportunities. As important, the trail will provide for an enhanced quality of life for all of those who live, work and play in Van Buren County.”
