Nesbitt to be Senate President Pro Tempore

   LANSING -  Senator-elect Aric Nesbitt announced on Nov. 8 that he will serve as the President Pro Tempore of the Michigan Senate in the upcoming 100th state Legislature.
   The President Pro Tempore is a senior officer and is authorized to perform certain duties in the absence of the Lt. Governor, including ruling on points of order.
   “I am honored to be entrusted with leading the Senate’s day- to-day business and presiding over Senate session,” said Nesbitt, R-Lawton. “I look forward to serving not only the constituents of the 26th District, but all residents of Michigan alike.”
   Nesbitt was elected on Tuesday, Nov. 6 to his first term as state senator for the 26th District, which includes all of Allegan and Van Buren counties, along with Gaines Township and the City of Kentwood. He will begin his tenure when the 100th Legislature takes office in January.
