Small animals are money-makers for county 4-Hers

   HARTFORD - The Small Animal Auction, held July 17, at the Van Buren Youth Fair, tallied a sales total of  $19,986.10.
   The grand champion market turkey, shown by Makayla King, was purchased by Jim and Audrey King and The Buckham Agency for $800 and $150, respectively.
   The reserve champion market  turkey, shown by Brynn Cornelison, was purchased by Joyce deJong-Monroe  for $560.
   The grand champion market waterfowl, shown by Addison Tomsic, was purchased by Mobile Network Solutions for $135. The reserve champion, shown by Anthony Gillan, was purchased by Sell Farms for $165.
   The grand champion market chickens, shown by Kyrsten Herren, was purchased by Baylor’s Buddy for $300. The reserve champion, shown by  Reagan Martin, was purchased by Full Moon Farms for $330.
   The grand champion eggs, shown by Jackson Hunter were purchased by Jeff and Dorothy Malcolm for $175. The reserve champion eggs, shown by  Austin Hunter, were purchased by Southwestern Michigan Feed for $90.
   The grand champion rabbit, shown by Leah Ostund, was purchased by Travis and Kristy Gumpert for $165. The reserve champion, shown by  Theresa Streit, was purchased by Southwestern Michigan Feed for $165.
   The grand champion dairy market goat, shown by Jacob Fritz, was purchased by Decatur Feed for $2.25 or $153. The reserve champion, shown by Kyle Fritz, was purchased by 4 Star Veterinary Services - JoAnna Kane for  $3.50 or $276.50.
   The grand champion non-dairy market goat, shown by  Nathan Mortimore, was purchased by Paw Paw/South Haven Chiropractic and Mortimore Farms for $3.75 per pound or $415.50.
   The reserve champion non-dairy market goat, shown by  Jacob Fritz, was purchased by Decatur Feed for $4 or $390.40.
   The grand champion goat carcass, shown by Jacob Fritz, was purchased by Dr. Jonathan and Angela Krauss for $4.85  a pound or $358.90. The reserve  grand champion goat carcass, shown by Kyle Fritz, was purchased by Decatur Feed, LLC, for $4 or $288.
   The grand champion milk jug, shown by Jacob Fritz, was purchased by Tractor Supply - Paw Paw, for $175.
