Step Forward Michigan online application closing

PAW PAW - Van Buren County Treasurer Trisha Nesbitt has announced that Step Forward Michigan will be closing its online application portal to new applicants on December 1, 2019.
Step Forward Michigan has helped 230 Van Buren County homeowners avoid foreclosure with more than $1.7 million dollars in assistance.
Since the establishment of the Hardest Hit Funds by the U.S. Department of Treasury in 2010, the State of Michigan has received over $761 million to aid in foreclosure prevention and blight elimination.
“The Step Forward Michigan Program has been instrumental in keeping Van Buren County families in their homes when facing foreclosure,” said Nesbitt. “If you or a loved one are behind on mortgage payments or property taxes, please submit your online application by November 30, 2019.”
Once the online portal is closed, only paper and phone applications will be accepted.
Homeowners can visit or call (866) 946-7432 for more information.
