Bronson Offers ThinkFIRST Fall Prevention Class
Falls are the leading cause of injury for people over age 65. To help prevent these injuries, Bronson is hosting a free program for older adults and their loved ones. This new program, called ThinkFIRST, will be offered on March 22 and again on April 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Bronson Athletic Club, located at 6789 Elm Valley Drive in Kalamazoo.
The program is designed to help individuals understand how dangerous a fall can be and what hazards are in the home and community. The two-hour presentation will be led by injury prevention nurse Kim Haines from Bronson Methodist Hospital. It will include a discussion of what to look out for, how to talk to your physician about fall prevention, nutrition, the significance of exercise, vision and medications.
ThinkFIRST National Injury Prevention Foundation focuses on educational programs to help people who are at high risk of injury.
