Off-road vehicles allowed on Lawrence village streets

Paul Garrod -

LAWRENCE - Look for off-road vehicles (ORVS) to join golf carts as a mode of transportation  through the Village of Lawrence, following recent  action by the Lawrence Village Council.
On Tuesday, Sept. 10, the council passed an ordinance to allow ORVs  on village streets.
In the ordinance, which takes effect Sept. 20, an ORV shall not operate on  the street  between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. ORVs are also prohibited on sidewalks and others pathways not specifically designed for motor use.
In 2017, the village approved the use of golf carts on village streets.
The council will hold a public hearing Monday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 to receive public comment on a proposed Adult Use Marihuana Ordinance. A copy of the proposed ordinance is available for review by contacting Village Clerk Cindy Nower at the Lawrence Village Hall, or by calling (269) 674-8161.
The council approved trick-or-treat hours for the village, Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
