Disability Network movie series starts with “Monica and David”

LAWRENCE  - Disability Network Southwest Michigan will host a series of movie and discussion events in Van Buren County this winter. All of the events will take place at the Van Buren Intermediate School District Conference Center, 490 S. Paw Paw St., Lawrence.
The series begins with the film, Monica & David, Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monica & David explores the marriage of two adults with Down syndrome and the family who strives to support their needs. Monica and David want what other adults have - an independent life. While Monica and David are capable beyond expectations, their parents, aware of mainstream rejection of adults with intellectual disabilities, have trouble letting go.
