Morning ‘til night activities slated for “Christmas in the Village” of Lawrence
LAWRENCE - The Village of Lawrence will celebrate “Christmas in the Village” Saturday, Dec. 7, with a day’s worth of activities and events for all, sponsored by Lawrence Community Development.
The day begins with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m at the Lawrence American Legion Hall, 130 E. St. Joseph St. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the Old Town Hall in downtown Lawrence.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Old Town Hall, an arts and crafts and vendor show will be held at the historic building, 114 W. St. Joseph St.
Beginning at noon, ice sculpting will be located at the Lawrence Township Community Services Building/Fire Station, 205 N. Paw Paw St., where blocks of ice will be carved into different sculptures.
At 1 p.m., a chili cook-off will be held at the Lawrence Township Community Services Building. Entry forms are available at the Lawrence Village Hall.
Santa and Ms. Claus will make an appearance at the Lawrence Branch of the Van Buren District Library, from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by music at Bill’s Hot Dog Shack, 105 N. Paw Paw St., from 4 to 6 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., a lighted Christmas parade will make its way down St. Joseph St., to the Lawrence Village Park, where, at 7 p.m., a tree lighting ceremony and music will take place.
Christmas in the Village concludes at 7:30 p.m, with hot chocolate and cookies served at the Lawrence American Legion Hall.
