Lawrence’s Hometown Christmas to feature Santa, ice sculpting, chili cook-off, lighted parade

    LAWRENCE - Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to Lawrence and  will be at the Old Town Hall on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m.
    In addition to visiting with Santa and the Mrs., area children will be able to decorate cookies and make holiday projects to take home.
    The event is  sponsored by the Van Buren District Library Lawrence Branch, while the cookies and crafts are provided by the Friends of the Library.
    Other  events planned for the Lawrence Hometown Christmas Celebration include:
    •Ice sculpting around town, beginning at noon;
    •Lawrence Community Chili Cook-off at 1 p.m. at the Lawrence Community Services Building (Fire Station), at 1 p.m.
    •Music, featuring Don Field,  from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bill’s Hot Dog Shack.
    •A Light-up  Parade  will begin at 6 p.m. and will travel  from Lawrence Public Schools on St. Joseph Street to the Lawrence  Village Park. Arriving at the park, lights on the the Village Christmas Tree will be turned on at approximately 6:45 p.m.
        The  day’s activities will conclude with a Christmas Dance, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at  Freedom Sports Bar, located downtown.
