Lawton Elementary School beneficiary of funds

Lawton Elementary School is the selected beneficiary of funds raised at an annual golf outing dedicated to the memory of Andy Cusentino, a former Lawton student, who tragically lost his life in a 2015 car accident. His parents, Deb and Tony Galich, sponsor Andy’s Army’s Golf Outing each year in their son’s memory, selecting a cause to support with the proceeds. This year’s Andy’s Army event raised $6,000 that has been earmarked to support two very worthy programs at Lawton Schools, including the Bullying Prevention and Child Protection Program, Second Step. The majority of the funds will be used to support literacy efforts by enhancing classroom libraries in each of Lawton’s elementary classrooms, according to Superintendent Chris Rice.  “Lawton Community Schools would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Deb and Tony Galich and the entire Andy’s Army,” said Rice. On hand for the check presentation were, from left: Front row- Charli Streeter, Easton Cusentino, and Wyatt Streeter; Back row - Supt. Rice, Deb Galich, Tony Galich, and Lawton Elementary Principal Heather Olson.  “On behalf of the hundreds of students who will benefit, Lawton Community Schools says thank you!”
