SUMMER FUN AT VBDL WEBSTER MEMORIAL
   DECATUR - Need to keep the kids occupied in July? Look no farther than VBDL Webster Memorial, Decatur.
   The library’s summer reading program, A Universe of Stories, provides engaging and entertaining activities each week.
   Every Monday at 10 a.m., Summer Story Time takes young readers on a journey through the world of astronauts, stars, planets and all things outer space. Kids on the Move, a weekly, half hour of relay races, UNO Fitness or a hula hoop showdown, is offered on alternate Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m.
   Kids of all ages are invited to the library’s annual Outdoor Fun Day, Friday, July 12, 1 p.m. It’s an afternoon full of yard games, sidewalk chalk art, and everyone’s favorite water-filled obstacle course.
   Other special events include Alien Canvas Painting, on July 17, and Outdoor Science, on July 25.

LIBRARY RECRUITING FRIENDS
   DECATUR - Libraries need Friends. Friends groups make a difference to the library’s they serve, whether by organizing and conducting book sales, acting as hosts for special events, or merely advocating on the library’s behalf.
   Area residents who might enjoy becoming an active Friend of the Van Buren District Library are invited to the group’s next meeting, Saturday, July 13, 9 a.m., Webster Memorial Library, Decatur.
   The Friends of the Van Buren District Library formed as a non-profit organization in March 1983 with the purpose of promoting the library, and sponsoring special events and projects. Since then, the Friends have contributed significant financial support to the District’s seven locations, plus countless volunteer hours working on numerous projects.

FRIENDS SPONSOR COMMUNITY YARD SALE
   DECATUR - Got extra baby and kids items? More power tools, sports equipment or toys than you can use? Are gently used clothes clogging your closet? Looking for an easy method of transferring ownership of these excess personal possessions?
   The Friends of the Van Buren District Library are ready to help by offering space in the group’s first-ever Community Yard Sale, Saturday, August 3, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the parking lot of VBDL Webster Memorial, Decatur.
   The cost to reserve two, adjoining parking spaces for the sale is a $20 nonrefundable fee. Sellers must supply their own tables and chairs, and free-standing tents or awnings.
