LIBRARY BOOK GROUP TALKS TRASH IN DECEMBER
   DECATUR -
America’s largest export is not corn, cars or computers – it’s trash. According to Pulitzer-prize winning journalist and author, Edward Humes, “each of us is on track to toss 102 tons of garbage in a lifetime. Our disposable plastic alone outweighs the entire U.S. Navy and costs us hundreds of billions of dollars.”
“Garbology: Our Dirty Affair with Trash,” is the December selection of VBDL Webster Memorial’s discussion group For the Love of Books. The group talks trash Monday, Dec. 16, 6 p.m., in the library’s Rose Room.
Garbology is an investigation into trash, how we create it, pay for it, live with it and its current and future impact on the economy. Copies of the book are available at the library. The discussion is free and open to the public. For the Love of Books meets the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. New members are always welcome.
For more information phone (269) 423-4771, e-mail info@vbdl.org, or stop by the library at 200 North Phelps Street, Decatur.
