Mattawan Business Association honors 10 local businesses

    Members of the Mattawan Business Association honored 10 businesses and individuals during their annual Fall Appreciation Dinner earlier this month.  Those recognized ranged from life-long residents to newcomers to the community, and others in between. On hand for the presentations were, from left: Back row - State Sen. Aric Nesbitt; Dr. Kate Hovenaar, of Charles River Laboratories - Outstanding Community Individual; Bill and Jodie Stauffer, of Red Arrow Surplus - 25 Years in Business; Jenny Huyck, of Vintage Inspired/Dragonfly Gardens - Unity and Community;  Todd Sikkema - Community Individual of the Year; and State Rep. Beth Griffin; front row - Ralph Moyle, of Ralph Moyle Trucking; Saman-tha Grundemann, of Miss Mattawan Scholarship Program; Alicia Smith, Mattawan High School softball coach - Coach of the Year; and Lorena Cruz of Kid Builders - Business Most Helpful to the Community.  Missing from photo are Pastor Dan and Kelsey Smith of New Life Church - Non-Profit of the Year; and Cathy Martz, of Mattawan High School - Teacher of the Year.
