Mattawan High School team claims first place at Region 13 Science Olympiad

    KALAMAZOO - Mattawan High School’s Science Olympiad Team took top honors in the 36th annual Michigan Region 13 Science Olympiad Tournament , held Monday, March 4, at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
    There were 19 teams - 14 primary teams and five alternate teams. Every team competed against each other for individual events, and primary teams competed for team score.
    Mattawan High School, which finished with 48 points,   reported  its students results as follows:
    Anatomy & Physiology - Hannah Willit and Ruby Gilbert (Fifth).
    Astronomy - Trevor Wendt and Ashlyn Higby (First).
    Boomilever - Andrew Burton and Michael Forden (First).
    Chemistry Lab - Brian Wheeler and Mitchell Kovacic (Third)
    Circuit Lab - Brian Wheeler and Nicholas Henderson (Third).
    Code Busters - Nicholas Henderson, William Soltesz and Trevor Wendt (Second).
    Designer Genes - Ales-sandra Sell and Hannah Willit (Second).
    Disease Detectives -  Alessandra Sell and Michael Forden (First).
    Dynamic Planet - Wil-liam Soltesz and Andrew Burton (Fourth).
    Experimental Design -  Mitchell Kovacic, Dominic Zaidan and William Soltesz (First).
    Fermi Questions - Trevor Wendt and Brian Wheeler (Second ).
    Forensics - Alessandra Sell and Hannah Willit (Second).
    Fossils - David Fry and Dominic Zaidan (Second).
    Geologic Mapping - David Fry and Andrew Burton (Second).
    Herpetology - Alessandra Sell and Ashlyn Higby (Second).
    Mission Possible - Ruby Gilbert and Bryan Hagenbarth,  (Third ).
    Mousetrap Vehicle - Nicholas Henderson and Zach Koning (Second).
    Sounds of Music - Andrew Burton and Zach Koning (Fourth).
    Thermodynamics - Trevor Wendt and Nicholas Henderson (First).
    Water Quality - William Soltesz and Hannah Willit (Sixth).
    Wright Stuff - David Fry and Dominic Zaidan (Fifth).
    Write It, Do It - Bryan Hagenbarth and David Fry (Third).
