Girl Scout hold Powder Puff derby, craft day, cake walk

Mattawan Girl Scout Troop 90693 members Izzy Mick and Isabel Eavey work at a craft table at the Mattawan Girl Scouts Powder Puff Derby.

MATTAWAN - The Mattawan Girl Scouts held a Powder Puff Derby March 4, following the Mattawan Cub Scout Pack 161’s Pinewood Derby. The Cub Scouts allowed the Girl Scouts the use of the track when they finished.
The Powder Puff is the Girl Scouts’ version of a Pinewood Derby, for all Girl Scouts. The Powder Puff Derby has stations on how to change a tire, make a derby car holder, ring toss and a craft station,  as well as a cake walk.
It is one of many events for Mattawan Girl Scouts each year.
Special ribbons were awarded to  participating Mattawan Scouts for “Queen of Creativity,” “Bling,” “Girls Choice,” “Leaders Choice,” and “Colorific.”
