Blue Star Mothers seek volunteers

The Blue Star Mothers of America Southwestern Michigan Chapter announce that they are seeking volunteers to assist in constructing holiday packages to be sent to U. S. Military troops deployed overseas in a mission dubbed “Operation Holiday Cheer”. The Blue Star Mothers have been collecting donations of service members’ essential items that need to be packed for shipment to help make Christmas special for our Military Personnel serving overseas.  The event will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 1-3pm at the Paw Paw Lions Club, 59050 County Road 665 in Paw Paw, Michigan.

This is the thirteenth year that the BSM #179 has sent packages to America’s Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Guardsmen serving throughout the globe to ensure that they are not forgotten and that their service to our country is appreciated. Last year over 100 boxes were sent to troops overseas with the goal of over 200 boxes this year.

If you are aware of a military serving overseas that should receive a package, please contact us at bluestarmothersmi179@gmail.com with the appropriate details. The public is encouraged to visit their Facebook page at Blue Star Mothers of Southwest Michigan #179 for more information, as well as, a list of needed items to include in the holiday boxes.
