Paw Paw Community Chorus prepares for annual Christmas concert

   PAW PAW - The Paw Paw Community Chorus, sponsored by the Paw Paw High School Performing Arts Department, will present its 20th annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 8, 4 p.m., at the Paw Paw High School Performing Arts Center,  30609 Red Arrow Highway, Paw Paw.  The chorus, under the direction of Theresa Vaughn, will be accompanied on piano by Juan Avendano. Practices for the concert will begin September 9, and continue every Monday at 7 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church, 120 Pine Street, on the corner of Pine and Kalamazoo streets, Paw Paw.
   The chorus will be preparing the following selections:  “Prophets Knew” by Lloyd Larson; “How Far Is It to Bethlehem?” arr. by Mark Hayes; “In the Bleak Midwinter” by Gustave Holst and Christina G. Rossetti/arr. Albin C. Whitworth; “The Inn by the Edge of the Wood”, Traditional Irish Folk Tune/words by Charlotte Lee/arr. Ruth Elaine Schram; “Stille Nacht” by Franz Gruber and Joseph Mohr; “Gettin’ in the Mood (for Christmas)” by Mike Himelstein, Brian Setzer, and Joe Garland/arr. Larry Shackley; “The Best Gift of All” by Sally K. Albrecht and Jay Althouse; “Swingin’ Saint Nick!”-Traditional/arr. Greg Gilpin; and “Christmas on Broadway” (It’s Beginning to Look Like Christmas, Pine Cones and Holly Berries, Toyland, March of the Toys, My Favorite Things, We Need a Little Christmas, and God Bless Us Everyone), arranged by John Higgins.
