PAW PAW - Two vacant seats on the Paw Paw Board of Education were filled last week with  new appointments, following action by the Paw Paw Board of Education during their February meeting.
Seven candidates applied for the vacant seats - Thomas Baney, Chad Crawford, Juan Garcia-Roch, Mike Jones, Dale Pease, Krystal Seibert, and Chris Tapper.
After interviewing the candidates in open session, board members selected Dale Pease and Thomas Baney to fill the vacant seats.
Pease was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Karen Ayres. Tom Baney was appointed as a successor to fill the seat vacated by Aaron Mitchell.
The two will fill these appointed terms until Dec. 31,  2018.
According to Paw Paw Public Schools Superintendent Sonia Lark, there will be four open Paw Paw Board of Education  seats listed on the November, 2018 ballot.
Two six-year terms will be available because Jody Williford and Aaron Mitchell’s elected terms expire at the end of December, 2018.
There will be one four-year term available which will complete Ayres elected term, which expires Dec. 31, 2022.
There will be one two-year term which will complete former board member Renee Richardson’s elected term,  which expires at the end of December, 2020.
The Board also approved the purchase of two buses.
