Rotary Pride Award
Dan and Ken Wahmhoff, of Wahmhoff Farms Nursery, Gobles, received the Paw Paw Area Rotary Club Pride Award from Rotarian Patrick Bauschke. The brothers have been co-owners of the nursery since 1996 when they purchased the nursery from their father, who began the farm in 1950. Each year, the nursery donates 1,000 Christmas trees through Trees for Troops to be delivered by Fed-Ex to military families for the holidays. Since 2005, Trees for Troops, an effort of the National Christmas Tree Association, has provided more than 176,000 Christmas trees to troops in the United States and overseas. The event started with a prayer that the recipients of the trees will know they are loved, cherished and most of all, not forgotten. Volunteers from around the area stack and load the trees for shipment in November.
At the recent Rotary Luncheon and Award Ceremony, Rotarian Roman Plaszczak, veterans Ron Douglas and Dave Richardson, Rotarian Ted Major, veteran Bob Adams, Rotarian Patrick Bauschke, and veteran Robert Mearing paid tribute to Wahmhoff Farms, along with the Rotary, for the nursery’s service to the community and to U.S. service men and women.
