Dinner with author to be top prize in reading contest

DECATUR - Van Buren Reads is upping the ante for its #GetCaughtReading contest to include dinner with this year’s visiting author, William Kent Krueger.
The New York Times bestselling author appears at the Van Buren Conference Center in Lawrence, Tuesday, on October 2, at 6:30 p.m.
Beginning July 15, patrons of all five Van Buren County public library systems are eligible to enter the contest by reading one or more of Krueger’s 19 novels. The first step is to be photographed holding one of the author’s books at any participating location.
Everyone who gets caught reading is entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card and becomes eligible to participate in the Win a Dinner with the Author contest. Contestants are required to tell the VBR committee in 25 words or less why they should be chosen to have dinner with Krueger before his appearance in Lawrence.
The #GetCaughtReading contest concludes September 15. Five Amazon gift cards will be awarded to winners drawn at random. One person will be chosen to join the committee for a pre-program dinner with William Kent Krueger, October 2.
For complete information on the contest, visit any one of these Van Buren Reads libraries: Hartford Public Library, Lawton Public Library, Paw Paw District Library, South Haven Memorial Library, and Van Buren District Library.
Van Buren Reads is a literary partnership that sponsors annual visits by local, state and regional authors. All VBR programs are free and open to the public.
