Evan M. Hughes

    Evan Michael Hughes, 64, of Paw Paw, died Feb. 4, 2019, in Kalamazoo. He was born Sept. 13, 1954, in Coshocton, OH, son of the Rev. Cannon John Charles and Laverne Jean Hughes.
    Evan graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City, IN. He received his bachelor’s degree in history from Kalamazoo College. He worked  for many years at Eaton Corporation as a global marketing strategy and sales executive. He was deeply involved in the Paw Paw community.  He served as the voice of the Paw Paw soccer teams, both men’s and women’s, for almost 20 years. He also was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Paw Paw, where his voice was featured as both a reader and in the choir.
    Surviving are mother, Laverne Hughes; his wife of 39 years, Kathleen Jean Hughes;  son, Jonathan (Marian) Hughes;  daughters, Kathryn Hughes and Rebecca Hughes; sister, Susan (Robert) Wright; nieces and nephews, Adam (Victoria) Wright and Brian (Christina) Wright, and his beloved cat, Pebbles.
    Evan was preceded in death by his father, John Hughes.
    Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Paw Paw, with the Rev. Rebecca Crise officiating.  Visitation will take place at St. Mark’s from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with the funeral following.
