Gayle G. Bakita

Gayle Genevieve Bakita, 70, of Mattawan, died peacefully,  Oct. 26, 2019. Gayle was born Sept. 1, 1949, in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Edward Gervais and Genevieve Sabourin.
Following her passion, Gayle began her career as a teacher, eventually earning her master’s degree from Western Michigan University and later retiring from Mattawan Consolidated School. Her loving and nurturing personality suited her well as she led her young students and raised her two children, always keeping them busy with fun activities.
Nothing pleased her more, however, than being a grandmother, except of course if a Michigan State game was on.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Paul Gervais.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Dan; children, Edward Bakita and Sikiu Maria Bakita; grandchildren, Izayah and Alejandrina; her special aunt Dorothy Peterson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
