Readers’ Voice

Dear Editor,
My name is Sid Shank and I was unable to attend Tuesday’s County Commission meeting. In regards to the paintings at the courthouse: These murals have been there for over 100 years. To have a few people want them covered or removed is ridiculous. This is a historical building and the paintings are a huge part of the history of the building.
Many of us are tired of a few people erasing our history -- the park in Kalamazoo, the monuments around the country being destroyed. This is the history of our nation. It is time we come together and stand up for our heritage and stop letting a few people rule the majority of the citizens.
Covering the paintings would cause them to degrade; they need air, not to be covered up and to mold...
   Leave the murals alone.
   Sid Shank
