George Barkovich receives his pin marking the 18-gallon plateau of blood donation to the American Red Cross.

Dear Editor,
Thanks to those who came out to support the American Red Cross blood drive at the KC Hall in Paw Paw on Wednesday, Dec. 13.  George Barkovich, pictured receiving his pin, has reached the 18-gallon plateau in donating blood to the American Red Cross.  Others reaching gallon plateau levels were Cindy Alderman, 16 gallons; Mike Toth, eight gallons; and Sue Wunderlich, four gallons.  Thanks also to the loyal crew of workers.
The next ARC blood drive in Paw Paw will be on Wednesday, February 14 - Valentine’s Day - at the Paw Paw Lions Club, from 1 to 7 p.m.. Please note the different hours!

(The following letter was sent to Lawton Police Chief Jeffrey Mack from Kathleen Houlihan, a passenger aboard the train which was involved in a fatal accident in Lawton last week.)

I was a passenger on Amtrak’s train last Tuesday (Dec. 19) when it struck Tyler Wirtz’s truck and killed him.
I can’t get him out of my mind and pray for his family. However, I want the Lawton residents who got out of warm beds to help a couple hundred strangers feel safe and comfortable to know how grateful I am.
Frankly, I can’t get these people out of my mind because they were so generous. Thank you for your help.
