Ken Butler receives pin from his sister, Kathy for 22 gallons donated.

Dear Editor,
Last week’s American Red Cross blood drive hosted by the Paw Paw Knights of Columbus was a success. The Red Cross set the goal at 50 pints. We had 63 Paw Paw area residents show up to donate; 59 were successful. George Barkovich reached the 19 GALLON level, Mike Smith reached 21 GALLONS, and Ken Butler (pictured receiving his recognition pin from his sister, Kathy) reached 22 GALLONS donated.
Laurie French was a first time donor.
Thanks to all who do-nated and to those who tried.
Thanks also to the loyal crew of volunteer workers, without whom these drives would not be successful.

Letter to the Editor:
This summer Eleanor’s Pantry has been so fortunate to receive many gifts. We like to acknowledge and thank the many people from our local churches, businesses, and organizations that support us. You are the foundation of our success to help feed our food insecure neighbors.
Many of you give monetary donations, which allow us to purchase the many items in the pantry. One dollar buys approximately six pounds of food from Feeding America.
Our young people are generous: Porter Busy Fingers and Girl Scout Troop 90631. Local businesses assisted us as well:  Paw Paw Biggby, AT&T, and Van Buren Coffee.       Fortunately, many local organizations also help us:  Paw Paw Service League, Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, United Way, and Eastern Van Buren County CROP Walk.
In addition, many of you bring us needed items. RMI, Incorporated brought us orange juice, Oshtemo West Baptist Church monthly brings a variety of groceries. A group from Paw Paw Seventh-day Adventist Church weekly purchases and packages fresh produce for us. RedArrow Ministries conducted their annual food drive at Family Fare, which collected a trailer filled with donated product, plus monetary donations.  For a second year, Michigan Paving and Materials purchased, had processed, and delivered a cow and a pig from the Van Buren Youth Fair!
We would like to extend special recognition and appreciation to Dave and Pat Conner. They own the building that houses Eleanor’s Pantry, and they have provided it to us all of these years rent-free!
Thank you and please continue to collect Family Fare/Spartan Nash receipts for us. We are thankful for each and every one of you who gives to Eleanor’s Pantry.
   You make a difference!
