The Lady Blue Devils traveled to Saugatuck last Wednesday to take on the Hartford Indians in the second round of the District tournament.
The Lawton girls had handily defeated Covert in the opening round of the tournament, but faced a much different kind of team in Hartford.
The Blue Devils had just enough girls (11) to play, leaving them without a single player to come in should someone get injured or just need a rest.
The game started with the Blue Devils immediately back on their heels, playing more of a scramble defense, just struggling to keep up with the faster, ever-pressing Hartford girls.  The Indians  were relentless with their drive to try to get around the Lady Devils for a shot on goal.  In the first half, the defense was unable to keep up four different times, resulting in Hartford goals.  Lawton goalie Karlee Owen kept a number of shots from getting onto the net, keeping the Lady Devils in competition a little longer in the game.
Down 4-0 at the half, the Blue Devils gave up only two more goals in the second half, finished their season with a 6-0 loss and an end to District play.
