LAWTON - Coach Gabe Nickrent and his Lady Blue Devil softball team hosted the District tournament and kicked off their run in the second game of the day against Parchment.
The Blue Devils’ hitting,  backed up by some good pitching and defense offered quite a show for the spectators on hand with the Lady Devils and Panthers locked in a 2-1 game for the first three innings.
Senior Gabby Hall was on the mound for Lawton, posting a game high 19 first pitches being strikes; still, amassed only four strike outs for the game.
In the fourth inning, the  Panthers finally found their groove, and posted a huge eight-run fourth inning.  Suddenly, the Lady Blue Devils were down 12-1, and the wind had gone out of their sails. Coach Nick-rent tried to keep them positive, to get his girls back in the game.  Unfortunately, they struggled at the plate and struck out five of the last six at bats, giving the Lady Panthers their ticket  to the championship game.
