The Gobles baseball team played Watervliet on Tuesday afternoon. Jake Getman pitched a dandy for the Tigers, allowing only five hits  and three runs over seven innings and striking out seven Panthers.
Unfortunately, the Tiger offensive was held in check, collecting three hits in the game and losing, 3-1. Gobles Trevor King had a double,  Getman and Caleb Brady each had a single.
In the second game for Gobles, Caleb Brady was on the bump and had a terrific game. Brady went seven innings, allowing three hits in the 6-1 win for the Tigers. “The boys played two solid games,” said Gobles Coach Vincent Church. “We came up short in the first game, despite a great pitching performance by Jake Getman. We were not discouraged and did work the second game. It was our best team performance to date, winning 6-1.
“The team defense was awesome and Hunter TenBusschen had an exceptional night on the field and was not letting anything past him at short stop. We look forward to moving into districts playing our best baseball.”
The Tigers bats came alive with eight hits in the game. Tenbusschen had two doubles. and went 2-4 in the game.  Tigers collecting a hit were Gabe Miller, Trevor King, Getman (DBL), Conor Buchkowski, Josh Lopez and Caleb Brady.
