LAWRENCE - The Lawrence baseball team dropped two games here to Decatur Monday evening. The Raiders were able to hold the Tigers scoreless in both games winning, 9-0 and 4-0.
Decatur opened up the evening by taking an early 2-0 lead in the first inning with two outs. Leadoff hitter for Lawrence, Zach Payment, got on base with a double on an 0-2 count. But, he remained stranded at second when the next three Tiger hits were stopped by the Raider defense. Decatur brought in one more run in the second inning to hold a 3-0 lead until the top of the sixth inning when they scored three more runs.
In the bottom of the sixth, with two outs, Chris Schuman took advantage of a Raider error and found himself at second. Unfortunately, the inning ended with him there,  on a fly-out to first. Decatur then scored three more runs in the final inning. Taking the loss for Lawrence was Dylan Matheny, who gave up three runs on three hits and threw 11 strikeouts.
The second game was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning, when Decatur pushed four runs across the plate. In Lawrence’s final at bat, Schuman tried to keep the Tigers alive with a single on two outs. But the very next batter hit a fly ball that was caught. The game was called after five innings due to fading sunlight.
Schuman led the Tigers, going 1 for 2 at the plate. With the two losses the Tigers are now 2-3.
