HARTFORD - Opening day for the Paw Paw baseball was a hit – in fact, a dozen of them. The Redskins produced 10 runs in the first four innings for a five-inning 11-0 victory over the Hartford Indians.
Jack Westerhoff had things well under control on the mound, allowing no runs and no hits in three frames of work, fanning six of the Indians’ batters. Landen Harris finished the job, giving up one hit in two innings of pitching.
Tyler Wressel led the Paw Paw hitting attack with two singles and a double. Caleb Schmitt, Zack Callahan, Devon Surdy, and Westerhoff each contributed a pair of hits. Jason Rocz added one.
Westerhoff chased three runners over the plate with Wressel, and Surdy each credited for two RBI.
