A fine season for the Redskin baseball team came to an abrupt end Tuesday with a 4-2 defeat by Sturgis in District Tournament play.
In a tight and entertaining contest, a two-run sixth frame by the Trojans decided the outcome.
Jack Westerhoff performed well on  the hill for Paw Paw with 5.2 innings of hurling, allowing just four  hits and one earned run. However, miscues gave Sturgis three unearned runs and the win.
Nolan Beck led Paw Paw with two hits, and Tyler Wressel and Zack Callahan accounted for the only other safe hits for the Redskins.

At home last Tuesday afternoon, Paw Paw’s suffered a double loss to a very talented Otsego team, which squeezed out 3-2 and 1-0 triumphs, on a day when pitching dominated the outcome.
Michael Hiestand tossed a masterful opening game,  allowing one run on seven hits in seven innings on the hill. Sadly for Redskins fans, Otsego’s hurler allowed just two hits and no runs to claim the win.
Kurtis Carr and Tony Bianchetti picked up the only safe hits for the Redskins. Paw Paw also played flawlessly in the field.
In the six o’clock game, a three-run third inning was all the Bulldogs needed to sweep the day. Landen Harris also turned in a creditable pitching performance, permitting four hits and three runs, only one earned in a complete game loss. Jason Rocz had two of the Reds’ five hits, with Harris, Nolan Beck, and Jack Westerhoff each adding one base hit.
