The Gobles boys basketball team traveled to Kalamazoo Tuesday to play Hackett Catholic Prep. The Tigers had a terrible start to the game, scoring only four points to trail 15-4 at the end of the first quarter.
The Tigers clawed their way back into the game and had come to within two points of the Irish, who then went on a 7-0 run before halftime, leaving Gobles behind 31-24 at the break.
Gobles could not keep up with Hackett in the second half as the Irish outscored the Tigers 44-22 and won the contest 75-46.
“We knew going into the game that Hackett was a great team,” said Gobles Coach Scott Sherrod. “We will regroup and look to stay undefeated in Conference play against Coloma on Friday (last).”
For Gobles, Karsen Tackett had 14 points and three assists, Jake Getman added 10 points, and Trevor King, eight points. Michael Fifer grabbed six rebounds.
