Lawton’s Lady Blue Devils faced their tough conference foe Kalamazoo Christian in the opening round of District competition. The Lady Comets took control of the game early and never looked back, ending the Blue Devils’ season with a 52-21 loss.
The opening minutes of the game were shaky for both teams as they struggled equally to finish off trips to the hoop with some points.  Between turnovers and loose ball scrambles, the first quarter was challenging at best.
But, before the end of the period, the Lady Comets had gotten themselves under control, and put up 17 points, while the Lady Blue Devils continued to falter and managed to score only two. Lawton held K-Christian to just four points while adding seven to their side of the scoreboard in the low-scoring second quarter.
For the second half, Lawton remained stuck in neutral, unable to score and continuing to turn the ball over, while the Comets shifted into overdrive.
Still, the Lawton girls played together as a team, despite the outcome, and came off the court as winners in their efforts all season long.
