The Lawton girls have had a tough season, struggling to score against their opponents. Kalamazoo Christian stepped into the Devils’ Den Friday night with plenty of scoring ability and downed the Lady Blue Devils, 60-26. The home team scored only five points in the first quarter. Sarah Dekoning and Gabriella Hall both tossed in some free throws, while Josie Buchkowski scored from the floor. The second quarter offered more of the same, as Lawton scored another five points.
The second half was a little more favorable to the Devils. With their ability to score slightly improved, Lawton added nine points in the third quarter, and seven in the fourth.  Though limited in its point total, six of Coach Dennis Warkentien’s eight team members put points on the board.
One bright spot for the team is freshman newcomer Haley Collins, who pulled down six rebounds in one quarter in her varsity debut. Veteran Megan Dopheide grabbed a total of 15 rebounds for the Blue Devils.
