LOCAL RUNNERS COMPETE AT STATE MEET

Gobles boys team finishes 22nd

 

   Last Saturday, the Gobles boys cross country team competed at the Division 4 State Meet at the Michigan International Speedway, where fellow Southwestern Athletic Conference team Saugatuck was the winning team, and Gobles finished in 22nd place overall.      
   Tiger team members were: Josh Paladi, 109th place (18:34.4); Mickey Kohlert, 125th place (18:42.3); Niles Devers, 139th place (18:49.5); Ross Thorpe, 157th place (19:02.6); Trenton Litchfield, 205th place (19:56.6); Cesar Martinez, 224th place (20:57.0); and Gavin Bair, 233rd place (21:52.9).
   From the girls team, Keaghan Kelly placed 111th, running 22:21.8. 
   “The seniors will be missed. Their leadership and commitment have been invaluable this year as they have laid a solid foundation for the Gobles cross country program,” said Gobles Coach Marc Kline of Josh Paladi, Ross Thorpe and Trenton Litchfield.

   Paw Paw and Mattawan harriers competed in the cross country individual state finals Saturday at the course at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
   Paw Paw’s Molly Thompson, a perpetual front-runner during the regular season, finished 47th in the Division 2 race, with a time of 19:43.8. Teammates Hannah Richmond (20:42.6) was the 118th girl across the finish line, while Jonah Maichele (17:34.1) was 146th in the boys race.
   Mattawan freshman Sarah Nondorf (19:43.9) finished 107th among the Division 1 girls.
