OTSEGO - The Paw Paw girls soccer team visited Otsego’s Bulldog Stadium last Wednesday evening and were sent packing, with a 2-0 defeat to open up Wolverine Conference play.
The Dawgs out-shot the Redskins, 13-4, on the night, and held a decisive edge in corner kicks. Paw Paw goalkeeper Rachel Babcock snuffed out multiple crossing efforts in each half to give her team a chance to hang around, but it was not enough as Otsego banged one home in each half to record the Bulldogs’ first conference victory of the young season.
The home team carried the majority of possession throughout, limited balls into Paw Paw’s talented Claudia Muessig, and shut the game down late to preserve the win. Senior keeper Matti Rayman recorded four saves on her way to the team’s fifth clean sheet this year, including a diving parry of a Muessig effort that was destined for the bottom corner.
Paw Paw plays tonight (Friday) at Kalamazoo Hackett  at 6 p.m.
