The Lawton Blue Devil soccer team faced Saugatuck in a Southwestern Athletic Conference match-up that left the Blue Devils on the short side of the scorecard, 4-2.
The Blue Devils, hoping to build a little steam heading into Districts, hosted the Indians last Wednesday on a rainy evening.  Both teams came to the match down on player numbers; and to start the game, the Blue Devils held strong.  The fairly equal matchup went back and forth until the end of the first half,  with the score tied, 2-2.
The Blue Devils were in a good spot to make a game of it; but could not get any of their charges on goal to pay off.  The Indians did.
Goalie Andrew O’Donnell did more than hold up his end for Lawton with several spectacular saves.
After the game, Coach Vince Heller his Blue Devils needed to be a little more mindful in forming their attacks.  “They were not crashing the goal all together and didn’t attack as a team. The Blue Devils are hosting the upcoming Districts, and Heller said they were coming together and should have a good chance during the tournament.
