The Lawton softball team  finally got a game in without rain.  Still a cold, windy day, when the Lady Blue Devils met Kalamazoo Hackett, winning both games of a doubleheader.
Lawton started slow in the first game, putting one run on the board in the first inning. Gabby Hall toed the pitcher’s mound for the Blue Devils, and took many Hackett batters deep into the pitch count.  She started to get her groove throwing a total of seven strikeouts with her first pitch being a strike for 14 of the Hackett batters.
Blue Devil bats came to life in the third inning when they scored four runs.  By the end of the game the Lady Blue Devils totaled up 10 hits for 12 runs. The big stick of the game belonged to Sara Dekoning, who crushed a two-run homer.
Game two was much closer than the first with both teams scoring two runs in the first inning. The Devils battled the Irish almost run-for-run, but Hackett picked up a two-run lead in the second inning. Lawton gave up another run to Hackett in the third, giving the visitors a three-run lead. Lawton roared back, scoring four runs for a 9-8 win.
The bats were really hot in the second game. Hackett had 13 hits, and Lawton, 11.
