PAW PAW - The Lady Redskin tennis team met Kalamazoo Christian Tuesday, and the result was a 5-3 win for the Lady Comets who are currently ranked fourth in the state.
The loss for the home team was not a surprise; in fact, in 24 meetings over the years, Paw Paw has never beaten K-Christian. At the same time, the score was very notable for the closeness of the match. In nine of the last 12 contests between these old rivals, the Comets prevailed by an 8-0 final. (The only time the Redskins came closer to a win was the 1996 team that fell 4-3.)
No. 1 singles player Katie Simon prevailed in two sets, 6-4 and 6-3. In the No. 2 singles flight, Hope Kline battled to the end for her victory, losing 5-7 and following with wins 6-2, and 10-5 in a tie breaker.  Ericka Holter, competing at No. 3 singles, also fell behind but rallied to take the flight 1-6, 7-5 and 10-4 in another tie breaker.
